Kimbell Street Team: Neighborhood Flyering
Join the Kimbell Street Team for neighborhood walking and community building. We’re looking for 16 neighbors to help us blanket the neighborhood with invitations to our upcoming Public Design Reveals and ensure every neighbor has a chance to see the future of Kimbell. We will form teams based on neighborhood and availability schedules, so let us know your preferences in the RSVP form below.
The Mission:
- The Goal: Build a crowd for our Design Reveal meetings at KOHO (Japantown) and the African American Art & Culture Complex (Western Addition).
- The Route: Hit the pavement in teams across Japantown, NoPa, Western Addition, Alamo Square, Anza Vista, and Lower Pac Heights.
- The Support: We provide the outreach kit: maps, flyers, and plenty of tape!
The Perk: As a huge thank you for helping us grow our volunteer base, every Street Team member will receive a special Kimbell Community Garden themed gift.
Design Reveal & Community Gathering @KOHO
Join us for a casual Saturday morning gathering to see how our community garden is coming to life. This public meeting is to share the latest design progress with neighbors in the heart of Japantown, just a 10-minute walk from the proposed garden site.
What to Expect:
- The Big Reveal: See the high-fidelity design plans for the 45+ raised beds, gathering spaces, and pathways.
- Progress Report: Hear a brief update on our overall progress, project milestones, and our next steps.
- Polishing the Vision: Share your thoughts on the finishing touches of the conceptual design.
The Vibe: Roots-level community. Social, casual, and full of potential! Drop in to see the vision in person or linger for a deeper chat with the team. It’s the perfect chance to meet your future garden neighbors—feel free to bring a friend!

- The Route: Walk in teams across Japantown, NoPa, Western Addition, Alamo Square, Anza Vista, and Lower Pac Heights.
- The Support: We provide the outreach kit: maps, flyers, and plenty of tape!

Second On-Site Volunteer Workday
We’re heading back to the site for our second official workday. Join your neighbors for a morning of productive groundwork as we continue transforming the proposed site into a vibrant community garden.
What we’ll be doing:
- Continued Site Prep: Finalizing debris removal and clear-out.
- Pathways & Borders: Beginning to outline the primary walking paths and communal zones.
- Invasive Species Management: Targeted weeding to protect the soil.
The Details:
- Target: We are looking for 40 volunteers to join us.
- Refreshments: Water and snacks will be provided to keep the team fueled.
- All Are Welcome: No prior experience is needed. Bring gloves if you have them!

We’re closing our ‘Seedling Phase’ with a Grand Picnic this Fall, and we need your help to make sure the whole community is there to celebrate. Join us for walking and spreading the good news.

The Grand Picnic & Design Gallery
Join us for a festive afternoon on the soil as we celebrate the successful closure of our ‘Seedling Phase.’ This is a casual, low-impact social designed to bring our neighbors together and look ahead to the next phase of our community garden.
What’s Happening:
- Design Gallery: Walk through a curated gallery of our latest garden designs. See how your feedback from our summer sessions and reviews from SF public agencies have been woven into the final conceptual plans!
- Meet & Greet: Connect with the steering committee, meet your future garden neighbors, and share stories.
- Food & Fun: Enjoy light refreshments and community vibes in the fresh air.
The Vibe: Completely casual. Whether you’re a long-time supporter or just curious about the green space coming to the neighborhood, we’d love to have you. Drop by, grab a snack, and see what we’ve built together.
